We all have that one thing that just makes us roll our eyes when we see or hear it. You know the feeling. It happens, and you’re shocked it’s happening.
In a recent online forum, people discussed instances that made them roll their eyes. Here are 10 of their top offenders.
We’re Family
Workplaces that claim their employees are “family” are off their rocker. It’s not family, it’s work.
One person said, “Any company that says, ‘we are family’ just doesn’t get it,” while another replied, “My family doesn’t have to pay me to show up. This is a business transaction. I perform labor, and you give me money.”
The Word Moist
The word moist seems to be oddly triggering for some people. One man said, “When someone is complaining about the word moist. Well I’m sorry how else am I supposed to describe this cake?”
Another replied, “Right? Are we supposed to describe it as a nice, wet piece of cake instead?”
The Five-Minute Procrastinator
We all know that one person who consistently is five minutes away or going to be ready to leave in five minutes, yet they never are.
One woman said, ” When someone says, ‘I’ll be ready in five minutes,’ and you know you have time to watch a Lord of the Rings marathon before they’re actually ready.”
Another person said, “I have a friend who keeps abusing this five minute ritual so much that I’ve started to give him a 30-minute advance heads-up just so he’ll show up on time.”
Let’s Share a Fun Fact About Ourselves
We’ve all had this situation pop up in an employment or education setting at least once. One person said, “In this situation I once just said something like ‘my name is x. There’s nothing remarkable about me.’”
Another person said, “I think I may start going with a slightly modified version ‘I’m me, and as of this morning, I have no active restraining orders.’ I will leave them guessing what that means.”
“And Go” Social Media Posts
Everyone has that one friend on social media who will put up a post asking for information (that they could Google) and asking to be spammed with responses.
One commenter said, “And go! In Facebook posts where people want to ‘be spammed” with info.’”
Someone replied, “Like I’m not doing homework for someone when they can just Google whatever information they need. “I need some easy crockpot recipes, and go!” No.”
I’m So OCD
A lot of people don’t understand what true Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is, and it shows. One person said, “‘I’m so OCD because (thing that is not OCD).’ I wish real OCD was as cute as liking organized cabinets and drawers.”
Another replied, “My OCD honestly terrifies me with horrible intrusive thoughts every single day, hearing somebody say things like that is infuriating.”
Triggering Political Posts
Everyone has experienced this at least once when someone posts a political statement or meme and then calls anyone who doesn’t agree with their stance “triggered.”
One man said, “When someone posts something political and calls everyone ‘triggered’ for simply disagreeing with the post.”
Another person said, “This is especially when they themselves are clearly upset about your disagreement,” and another replied, “Specifically when they use an abundance of laugh cry emojis to mask the seething anger inside.”
People Who Blast Speakers For All to Hear
No one else wants to hear your phone conversation or podcast. Get yourself some headphones, and keep it to yourself. One man said, “Whether it’s someone taking a call in public on speaker, watching videos or listening to music/podcasts etc.”
Someone else said, “I hate the unfiltered public. I wish we could shame people into being decent.”
“I’m Just Brutally Honest”
Even if you are “honest,” it’s no excuse to be rude. There is such a thing as tact. One lady said, “I’m brutally honest. No, tact isn’t that hard. You’re pointlessly being a jerk.”
Someone replied, ” Someone described themselves as brutally honest in a group project once, and the quiet kid in the corner said “sure Atilla the Hun, being brutal is definitely a good thing.”
No One Wants to Work Anymore
People do want to work; they just want fair wages and safe conditions to do it. One man said, “I’m in a business client facing role and I can tell how many bad managers and owners say this and claim they can’t hire anyone, yet I talk to a business down the street and they are getting resumes just fine.”
Another said, “The translation is always ‘I don’t want to increase wages to compete, I want to keep making more money.’ My roommate runs a large operation and ‘cant hire anyone’ and I’m like… No one can survive off 10 an hour anymore man.”
