Sometimes, it just takes one action for us to judge someone. But what are the things that most often lead someone to judge another person as, well, terrible? That’s what one person asks online, and respondents don’t hold back on what makes them judge.
1. Littering
Whether throwing something out of a car window while driving or leaving trash in public spaces, littering is the most agreed upon social sin. It highlights that someone is inconsiderate and doesn’t respect others or their environment.
2. Not Picking Up After Dogs
Similarly, inconsiderate people don’t pick up after their dogs, leaving doggie doo-doo for the rest of us to step in. The lack of clean-up also raises questions about whether or not that person should own a dog at all since pet ownership is full of responsibilities that they aren’t willing to accept.
3. Being Rude to Service Industry Workers
Service industry workers do their best to make everyone’s experiences as smooth and enjoyable as possible, whether they’re servers at a restaurant or clerks at a convenience store.
So why would someone be rude to them? It’s a difficult question to answer beyond the obvious answer that the person being rude isn’t a very nice person.
4. Talking Loudly on the Phone in Public
Sometimes, you have to take a call in public, but there’s no need to make your phone call everyone else’s problem.
Talking loudly on your phone in public spaces, especially on public transportation, shows that you don’t care about the other people who may not want to hear your half of a conversation.
5. Promoting Multi-level Marketing
Few things raise red flags about a person, like promoting a multi-level marketing product. Involvement with multi-level marketing shows that someone lacks critical thinking ability, a great sense of arrogance, or both, none of which is very inviting to be around.
6. Coughing or Sneezing Without Covering
After living through a global pandemic, people know to cover their mouths and noses when coughing or sneezing. But for some people, knowing they should doesn’t mean they will, which tells everyone around them what kind of person they are.
7. Not Returning Shopping Carts
It takes about fifteen seconds at most to return a shopping cart to the corral, and it keeps the parking lot safe and open for all the other shoppers.
But some people can’t be bothered to take the time to make the lives of others around them easier, highlighting that they’re probably inconsiderate in other aspects of their lives, too.
8. Double Parking
Double parking is just one of the many actions involving driving that leads people to quick judgments, and it’s easy to see why. Double parking makes it impossible for the other person who’s parked their car to get out of a spot.
It’s one of the most selfish actions that shows the double parker thinks they’re more important than the other person.
9. Tailgating
Another car-centered action that shows people’s character is tailgating. Many people view tailgating as the desperate actions of someone who wants to feel tough.
Tailgating isn’t just rude; it’s also dangerous, and all it serves to communicate is that some people think they’re above the law and deserve to endanger others because they want to go fast.
10. Not Using a Turn Signal When Driving
Not using turn signals before turning when driving may not be as explicitly aggressive as tailgating, but it can be just as dangerous. It’s a simple action that shows drivers care enough about the other people on the road to keep everyone safe.
But some people can’t be bothered to move their fingers half an inch, and others think that says a lot about them.
11. Not Stopping for Pedestrians
The final driving-related action that makes people quick to judge is not stopping for pedestrians waiting to cross the street. It takes a few moments and shows an awareness for other people, but some people are only concerned with themselves.
